Operational energy use
LETI Embodied Carbon Primer Build, Supplementary guidance to the Climate Emergency Design Guide, published by the London Energy Transformation Initiative in 2020, states in relation to operational energy use:
‘EN 15978 Module B6 - The energy performance of a building is determined on the basis of the calculated or the actual annual energy required for heating, domestic hot water supply, air conditioning (cooling and humidification/ de-humidification), ventilation, lighting, auxiliary energy used for pumps, control and automation. 6 The energy use of other building-integrated technical systems (e.g. lifts, escalators, safety and security installation and communication systems) necessary for the technical and functional performance of the building shall be included in B6 and reported and communicated separately.’
